Pest Control in Phoenix, AZ - Family-Owned Since 1996

Arizona OPM License #I5321B No Contracts - No Initial Fees Same-Day & Emergency Service Serving Valley Families Since 1996 Bird Barrier of California Certified
Built the opposite way

Know the Family, Know the Property, Know the Pest.

Russell Pest Control technician treating a residential property

From North Mountain Village, Moon Valley, and the Biltmore corridor to North Scottsdale communities like Desert Mountain, Legend Trail, and Troon North - and across the East Valley through Mesa, Gilbert, and Chandler - our routes are full of customers who signed on in the 1990s and never left. Steve Russell started the company after watching a volume operator put route counts ahead of customer service, and built it on the opposite idea: know the family, know the property, know the pest.

Every new customer relationship starts with an inspection and a straight answer - price and expectations set before the first treatment. You'll see the same technician at almost every visit because we intentionally keep drivers on the same routes. We're licensed by the Arizona Department of Agriculture's Office of Pest Management, Bird Barrier of California-certified for bird work, and we're now serving the children of the customers we started with. No call centers, no robots, no door-to-door salespeople. Ever.

Why Russell

Why Phoenix Valley Homeowners Have Trusted Russell for Three Decades

30 Years in the Valley

Founded March 1, 1996. Steve Russell has worked in Phoenix pest control since 1989 - and now his son Steven Jr. is a partner in the business.

A Real Person Answers

Owner or office staff pick up during business hours. After-hours calls are routed straight to Steve's cell for triage - never to an answering service.

We keep technicians on the same routes, so the person treating your home knows your property, your pets, and your history.

No Door-to-Door Sales

We have never knocked on doors and never will. Our growth comes from referrals and decades-long relationships.

15-Day Re-Treat Warranty

If pest activity persists within 15 days of treatment, we return and re-treat at no charge. No arguing, no lip service.

Pet- & Kid-Conscious

Targeted, low-drift applications with clear re-entry guidance - and natural-oil product options for sensitive households.

The Russell story

Three Decades of Phoenix Pest Knowledge - Now in It's Second Generation

Steve Russell came to Arizona in 1984, started in pest control in 1989, and went out on his own on March 1, 1996 - selling $88,000 in service door-to-door in nine months while his wife ran the office and raised their two daughters. His first big account was a 67-store Domino's Pizza contract. The philosophy hasn't changed since: learn the biology of the insect, and you'll know how to control it, and treat every customer like you want their business forever.

Today, Steven Jr. - who started as a part-time tech and came back full-time - is a partner and the face of the company's next 30 years, working alongside techs Ernesto and Jorge. The name on the vans honors Steve's father, and the goal is simple: the highest standard and integrity, for customers we plan to keep for decades.

Twenty-year customer

"My kids grew up calling Steve, the owner, Uncle Bug... It is now a father and son run company, and the son is just as sweet, kind, and helpful as his dad. This company is so much more than a pest control company."

The process

When You Call Russell Pest Control - What Actually Happens

1

A Real Person Picks Up

During business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM), you reach Steve, Steven Jr., or our office staff - never a call center. We ask the right questions up front: what you're seeing, where, and for how long. After hours, your call forwards to Steve's cell; true emergencies get handled, and everything else gets first-thing scheduling.

2

Inspection Before Pricing

We don't throw out numbers over the phone for work we haven't seen. General pest needs are scoped on the first call; anything involving attics, bee hives, rodent entry, or sealing gets an inspection first - 20 to 30 minutes of real diagnosis, not a drive-by quote.

3

A Plain-Language Plan

You'll hear what the pest is, why it's on your property, and what it takes to control it - biology first, not scare tactics. If the neighbor's new landscaping brought scorpions into your block walls, we'll tell you that, too.

4

Straight Pricing, Honored Every Time

No initial fees, no contracts on residential service, and the price we quote is the price you pay. Pricing reflects your home, yard, and the problem - not a coupon game that resets after the first visit.

5

A Thorough First Treatment, Then Consistency

Because price and expectations are set before day one, your technician's full visit goes into the work: targeted low-drift exterior treatment, web removal, granules where ants and sprinkler boxes meet, glue boards in the garage, and notes for every future visit. The same tech comes back, visit after visit - backed by our 15-day re-treat warranty.

The midnight squirrel - why customers stay 30 years

Back in the '90s, a longtime customer's triplets left the pool-bathroom door open and a squirrel got into the house at midnight - with her husband away in China on business. Steve took the emergency call himself, drove over, and caught it. That's what owner-answered service means, and it's why families who called us in the '90s still call us today.

Services

Residential & Commercial Pest Control Across the Phoenix Valley

Most customers start with a recurring general pest plan and add targeted services as the desert throws problems at them - scorpions in the block wall, bees in the eaves, roof rats in the citrus. Every service below has its own page with full details; here's the map.

General Pest Control

Monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly protection against the Valley's full insect lineup - roaches, ants, spiders, crickets, earwigs, silverfish, and more. No contracts, no initial fees, 15-day re-treat warranty.

View Service

Scorpion Control

Bark scorpions are the Valley's signature pest, and they're our specialty - targeted treatment programs built around how scorpions actually live in block walls and river-rock landscaping.

View Service

Black Light Scorpion Search

An after-dark UV inspection (7-11 PM) that shows you exactly where scorpions live on your property - $125 per hour, and a bad property can turn up dozens. The honest first step before any scorpion program.

View Service

Home Seal

Our signature prevention service: sealing the doorways, weep screeds, stem walls, and utility penetrations where pests actually enter. Typical Phoenix-Valley homes run $600-$2,500 and are backed by a 1-2 year warranty.

View Service

Rodent Control

Roof rats in the citrus, packrats at the desert edge, mice in the garage - trapping, removal, cleanup, and the exclusion work that keeps them from coming back.

View Service

Bee Removal

Honey bee relocation is possible when a beekeeper can make it, and safety-first removal is necessary when Africanized aggression leaves no choice. Arizona's bee calls deserve straight answers, and ours is on the page.

View Service

Wasp Control

Nest removal and prevention for paper wasps and yellowjackets under eaves, patios, and tile rooflines.

View Service

Mosquito Control - In2Care

The In2Care station system turns female mosquitoes into carriers that poison their own breeding sites - season-long control that beats fogging alone. Simple setup, monthly liner service.

View Service

View Fence & Snake Screening

Critter-fence screening on view fences keeps snakes, ground squirrels, and desert wildlife out of your yard - one of the most requested jobs we do in homes backing onto washes and preserves.

View Service

Weed Control

Pre-emergent and post-emergent programs timed to the Valley's two weed seasons, for homes and commercial lots.

View Service

Commercial Pest Control

Property management, restaurants, warehouses, medical and dental offices - monthly exterior contracts, semi-weekly food-handling programs, and the same-day tenant work orders on which our commercial reputation is built. Pigeon trapping and cleanup included.

The $10,000 quote that wasn't

After Heidi's sons bought their first home, they found rats in the attic. Other companies quoted more than $10,000 and recommended work Steve told them plainly they didn't need. Russell resolved it thoroughly, put the family on a reasonable monthly plan, and earned a review that says it best: "We are so grateful for their integrity."

Eighteen years, three football fields

Our largest commercial account - a campus roughly three football fields in size - has been on monthly service for 18 years: pest control, gopher baiting, and rooftop pigeon trapping. Commercial property managers talk to each other. Same-day tenant work orders are the reason they keep talking about us.

Seven Questions to Ask Any Phoenix Pest Control Company Before You Hire

Ask these of anyone you are considering - including us. They'll protect you no matter who you hire.

1Are You Licensed With the Arizona OPM?

Arizona pest control is regulated by the Office of Pest Management, a division of the Arizona Department of Agriculture, with yearly usage and office inspections, plus mandatory continuing education. Ask for the license number. Ours is #I5321B, and it lives in our footer.

2Can You Show Current Insurance?

General liability, workers' compensation, and commercial auto. We carry all of them and provide certificates of insurance on commercial accounts as a matter of routine.

3Who Actually Answers Your Phone?

A call center three states away can't tell a bark scorpion from a striped tail devil. Ask who picks up - and who comes out.

4Will I Get the Same Technician Each Visit?

Consistency is half of pest control. A tech who knows your property catches what a rotating stranger misses.

5Is There an Initial Fee, and What Exactly Does It Buy?

A common industry pattern is a large first-treatment fee for work that's repeated at every routine visit afterward. Ask what's different about visit one. (Our answer: nothing - so we don't charge for it.)

6What Happens if Pests Come Back Between Visits?

Get the re-treat policy in plain terms before you sign anything. Ours: if the activity persists within 15 days, we re-spray free of charge.

7How Do I Cancel?

If the answer involves a retention department, you already know what the relationship will feel like. Our residential customers can cancel with a phone call - though after 30 years, our retention data suggests they rarely want to.

FAQ

Phoenix Pest Control Questions, Answered Straight

How Much Does Pest Control Cost in Phoenix?

It depends on the size of your home and yard and what we're controlling - which is why we scope it on a quick call instead of quoting blind. What we can promise up front: no initial fees, no contracts, and a price that's honored once quoted. Standalone services with published anchors include the Black Light Scorpion Search at $125 per hour and Home Seal jobs that typically run $600-$2,500.

Do You Offer Same-Day or Emergency Service?

Yes - same-day and emergency response, including after-hours and weekends. After-hours calls forward to Steve's cell; real emergencies get handled, everything else gets first-available scheduling. We're honest about this: it's owner-triaged, not a 24/7 call center.

Are You Licensed and Insured?

Yes. Arizona OPM License #I5321B, with yearly state inspections and required continuing education, plus general liability, workers' compensation, and commercial auto coverage.

Is the Treatment Safe for My Kids and Pets?

We use targeted, low-drift applications and follow every label to the letter. Pets stay off treated areas until dry - about 15 minutes outside, 30-35 minutes inside. For sensitive households, we offer natural-oil products, with the honest caveat that in high summer heat, they last days, not weeks.

How Often Should I Have My Home Sprayed?

In the Valley, pest pressure never truly stops - most homes do best with monthly or bi-monthly service, with quarterly as the minimum maintenance level. March and November are the busiest turn-on months; we'll recommend a cadence based on your property, not a sales target.

Why Am I Seeing MORE Bugs Right After a Treatment?

It's the question that surprises everyone: a fresh treatment flushes insects out of cracks, valve boxes, and wall voids, so for a few days you'll see them out in the open - dying. That's the product working. If you're still seeing live activity after two weeks, that's what the 15-day re-treat warranty is for.

Scorpions Keep Showing Up. Can You Actually Get Rid of Them?

Scorpions are the hardest Valley pest to control - they can slow their metabolism and survive conditions that kill other insects, and they re-seed from neighboring block walls and fresh landscaping. Real control is a program: targeted treatment, cutting off their food supply (crickets), a black light search to find harborage, and sealing the entry points. One-time sprays don't hold, and we'll tell you that up front.

Do I Have to Sign a Contract?

No. Residential service has no contract and no cancellation hoops - if something's wrong, you talk to the owner, and we fix it or part ways. Commercial agreements are 30-day notice, both directions.

Do You Handle Commercial Properties?

Yes - it's a third of our business: property management portfolios, restaurants on semi-weekly food-safe programs, warehouses, and independent medical, dental, and veterinary offices. Same-day tenant work orders are our commercial signature.

What About Termites or Bed Bugs?

We don't treat them, and we won't pretend to. Termite work requires a separate license, so we refer you to a trusted specialist and stay in our lane - the pests we control, we control extremely well.

Do You Remove Bees Without Killing Them?

When a beekeeper can take the colony, live relocation is our first choice. When the hive is Africanized, inaccessible, or an immediate safety threat - and the Arizona Department of Agriculture is clear that human safety comes first - extermination is the responsible call. We'll tell you which one your situation is before any work starts.

My HOA or Property Manager Handles Pest Control. Can You Work With Them?

All the time. We service HOA common areas and master-planned communities across the Valley, hold preferred-vendor status with several of them, and know how to work within CC&R requirements.

One call. A real person.
